India
Hyderabad & Telangana
Hyderabad has become one of India's fastest-growing Global Capability Centre markets, alongside an established pharmaceutical and life sciences base.
What makes the Hyderabad market different
Telangana operates its own Shops and Establishments Act and its own registration and return requirements, distinct from both Karnataka and Maharashtra. Companies expanding from Bengaluru frequently assume the two states work alike and find they do not.
Hyderabad's pharmaceutical and life sciences employers carry compliance obligations most HR functions never encounter — occupational health requirements, controlled-substance handling protocols, and documentation standards driven by regulatory inspection rather than by labour law. Training records in these businesses are examined by auditors, not just filed.
For Global Capability Centres, Hyderabad currently offers a somewhat less contested senior talent market than Bengaluru, though the gap is narrowing quickly as more centres establish there. The window in which a new centre can build a senior team without competing head-on with two decades of incumbents is closing.
The city's growth rate creates its own problem. Companies scaling from fifty to five hundred people in under two years routinely outgrow an HR foundation that was adequate at the smaller size and structurally inadequate at the larger one — no compensation bands, no performance cycle, and a single HR generalist supporting the whole organisation.
Hyderabad also sees a high volume of first-time India entry from US companies, particularly in engineering and product roles, which brings the classification and salary-structuring questions that arise wherever a foreign employer hires directly.
What I do for Hyderabad employers
- Global Capability Centre setup — org design, talent strategy, compensation benchmarking, leadership hiring
- Telangana statutory compliance registration and review
- HR foundation rebuild for companies that have scaled past their original framework
- Training record and competence documentation for pharmaceutical and regulated employers
- POSH Internal Committee constitution and external member seat
- India-entry employment setup for US and European companies hiring in Hyderabad

HR in Hyderabad — common questions
We are scaling fast in Hyderabad. When should we bring in senior HR?
Earlier than most companies do. The practical trigger is not headcount but complexity — the point at which multiple managers are making independent compensation and hiring decisions, because that is when inconsistency starts compounding. Waiting until something breaks means fixing it retrospectively across everyone already hired.
Is Hyderabad or Bengaluru better for a Global Capability Centre?
It depends on the function. Bengaluru has the deepest engineering and product pool and the highest competition and cost. Hyderabad currently offers a somewhat less contested senior market at a lower cost base, with strong depth in pharma, engineering and product. The right answer follows from the roles you actually need rather than from a general ranking.
